Jason Kelce Says He’s Entered ‘Stupid Competition’ for Weight Loss to Keep His ‘Sanity’ After NFL Retirement

The ‘New Heights’ podcast host revealed he’s down 20 lbs. but is trying to lose as much body fat percentage as possible

Jason Kelce is on a whole new weight loss journey.

On the latest episode of the New Heights podcast he hosts with brother Travis Kelce, the former Philadelphia Eagles center, 37, shared that he’s entered into a new weight loss challenge with pal and former teammate Beau Allen.

“Beau Allen reached out and said, ‘Do you wanna do a competition on who can lose the most body fat percentage but still gain muscle?’ ” Jason explained on the episode, which was released on Wednesday, March 25.

Jason has lost 20 lbs. since retiring from the NFL a year ago, and currently weighs 276.6 lbs. “I was never heavier than 300,” he told Travis, 25. “Well, maybe a couple of times … I tipped 300 in the NFL.”

In order to properl compete with Allen, Jason got a bone density scan for the first time. The test, he said, taught him brand new things about his body.

“There is a lot of fat in there!” Jason said, breaking down the results. “It’s kind of embarrassing seeing your body broken down like this. Although, I’m not gonna lie. It’s a good calf-to-hamstring ratio, I think.”

He went on to say he has a lean mass of “207 lbs. of muscle” with “58.7 lbs. of fat … [which] is exactly 21 percent body fat.”

“You’re a f—— hefty load, dude,” teased Travis.

Asked why he and fellow retiree Allen, 33, started a competition together, Jason joked, ‘Dude, this is what you do … when you retire, you have to do stupid competitions like this to keep your sanity.”

The goal, Jason said, is to “try and lose as much body fat percentage as possible in three months.”

This isn’t the first time Jason has spoken out about his weight loss journey. In June 2024, the ex-NFL star told GQ he’d lost nearly 20 lbs, going down to 277 lbs. from his starting weight at 295 lbs.

“I don’t want to get too small,” he told the outlet. “…So for me, I feel like for some reason, 250 to 260 feels like I’ll be still big and be happy with the way I look without having a six-pack. But I’ll still be able to have that stature a little bit.”

“It’s hard to imagine another nearly 20 lbs. coming off, being honest with you,” he admitted. “But my back already feels better. My knees already feel better. So another 20 lbs. hopefully will make that much more adept at playing with my children.”
